Plotter Drawings

I found Plotter Drawings and one of  the devices which produces these drawingswhich you can see in action at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_pwzqPk6Gg

Here is where you can find some of the drawings:

I find the drawings fascinating and remember when I visited I think it was Goddard when i was a child.  I received a huge piece of paper with thousands and thousands of little dots all over it which were arranged to form a man  with a beard a pot belly and a suit with a very wide belt.  I hadn't given this picture a thought until I bumped into the plotter drawings information.  The video was fantastic.  It brought back memories of the sound and of the machine and the wonder of how did they do that. In the video I was able to see well the pen changes and the arm moving about the page making the picture.  This is history and art at a technological beginning which has grown towards the modern digital art of today.  Plotter art drawings I believe were the first and very beginning of digital art.  I wonder if we would have digital art if the plotter art hadn't started this adventure?

This page has an example of type of the plotter drawing I received.  Thes early drawings were created using the letter "x" which it looks like wasn't used in this example.

  1. Wow, that's awesome! Frankly, if plotter drawings hadn't help advance the way to digital art then I'm sure we crazy humans would come up with something else to fill the missing gap. Imagination never goes dry after all! Nice read and videos.
